Close Up On Cabochons (ka-ba-shon)
A cabochon adds more dimension and weight to your bottle cap project as well as slightly magnifies the design underneath.
OTHER TIPS & IDEAS FOR USING CABOCHONS, GEMS & CRYSTAL LAQUER
Use beads in your bottle caps! Great for kids. Crystal Lacquer can be used to fill the cap or just as a thin sealer for your project. It also works as a glue.
If you use a heavy application of the lacquer it will take overnight to dry and remember it goes on cloudy and dries clear.
I added a small crystal to the top of this flattened cap design and finished off the back with a 1 inch pink acrylic gem.
1/2" cabochon added to this mini cap necklace gives it a polished look and feel.
1/2" cabochons and gems add some fun and sparkle to this photo keychain.

we just placed and order and would like to know
Where to find a chain/bracelet like the one used in this picture. My daughter is the president of her ASL club and the club members are each decorating one mini bottle cap to put o a bracelet. They would like it to be similar to the one in this photo located on your sight. any input would be great

The chain I used in this bracelet came from a craft store with a large jewelry section. At this time we don't offer one like it on our site. Although we are looking into it, it might be a little while until something is available. Best of luck with the charm bracelet. Its a great idea!

I need to have both sides of the cap painted!Some projects I use both sides of the cap and am stuck with plain silver. I've tried spray painting them in custom colors, but haven't been successful for both sides to look great. I have a project for a fund raising coming up and need that option in all of your colors- flattened as well as not flattened. Please help!

We are currently looking into adding bottle caps with color on both sides. It is quite the process. Especially in every color. We are working hard to try to find a solution. Unfortunately we don't have anything available at this time.
There is a product out there called alcohol ink that you could probably find on a scrap booking website. That will paint metal and it is available in multiple colors. I'm not sure of the details and haven't tried it yet. I have seen people using it to paint bott

I have a question for you.. I've been using the Mod Podget 3Dimensional Magic for months now.. When I make my bottle cap images that I print my ink is running together making my image either blurry or a complete blob!! do YOU have any suggestions on how to fix this or what could be causing it.

Hello! Thanks for your question.We have had the best & most consistent results with the following process:
E6000 Glue underneath the image because it is not water based. Let it dry.
Use a heavy weight photo paper to print on.
Seal the image with 3D Crystal Laquer.

The safest way to use 3D Crystal Lacquer to seal printed images is to have the images printed on a laser printer. Each of the many, many times we've done this the images have remained very clear over long periods of time. When testing ink jet printers we've gotten inconsistent results with the image blurring when sealing them with 3D Crystal Lacquer. Glossy paper seems to work best.

If you need to print your images on an ink jet printer I recommend using glossy photo paper, E6000 Glue to adhere the image to the cap, and an epoxy dot to seal the image.
